Design Thinking Methodology
This methodology is widely used in workshops for organizations to create innovative solutions, streamline processes, and effectively solve complex problems. Its application is based on several key principles:
- User focus — The Design Thinking process begins with a deep understanding of the real needs of users, recipients, or customers. Workshops often include an empathy phase, during which the team explores the experiences and expectations of the people for whom solutions are being developed.
- Interdisciplinary teams — Participants come from different departments and have diverse competencies, which allows for the exchange of perspectives and inspires the generation of unconventional ideas. This approach integrates knowledge and experiences and strengthens the engagement of all team members.
- Iteration and testing — The design approach is based on a cycle – from empathy through problem definition, idea generation, prototype building, to solution testing. Rapid prototyping and regular testing minimize the risk of costly mistakes and allow assumptions to be verified at an early stage.
- Solving “wicked problems” — Design Thinking works particularly well where there is no single obvious path or ready-made solution – i.e., for so-called “wicked problems,” which are complex, multidimensional, and open-ended.

Example Applications of Design Thinking Workshops in Organizations
- Creating and developing new products and services: By identifying key customer needs, the team designs solutions that are genuinely desired by the market.
- Optimizing processes and improving operational efficiency: Design Thinking is used to streamline internal processes, communication, or introduce new ways of working.
- Building development strategies: Workshops help define new company growth directions, marketing strategies, or business models that match dynamic market needs.
- Increasing employee engagement and satisfaction: The design process often involves employees at various organizational levels, leading to a sense of influence, identification with the change, and greater motivation.
- Strengthening innovation culture: Design Thinking fosters openness to experimentation, supports continuous learning culture, and stimulates creativity.
Design Thinking is a universal tool – applicable in small firms and global corporations, for commercial and non-profit organizations, wherever the starting point for change is the human being and their real needs and challenges.
